Company Background:

Rexford Albany Municipal Supply Company Incorporated, (RAMSCO), was founded by brothers Edward and George Beaudoin as Rexford Pump & Supply Company Inc. in 1958.

During the late 1950s and throughout the 1960s housing construction was booming. During this time Rexford Pump and Supply Company was acting as the supply arm of its sister–contracting firm, Rexford Plumbing & Heating. Both “Rexford” companies were involved in the residential build–up that occurred in southern Saratoga County during the 50s and 60s. Rexford Plumbing & Heating was installing most of the residential plumbing and heating systems throughout Saratoga County, as well as installing individual well water and septic leach–field systems. At one time, the “Rexford” Companies employed over 125 plumbers, operators, and support staff.

Prior to the 1960s manufacturers of products related to the waterworks, sanitary sewer system, and storm sewer system markets were selling directly to the end user. During this time many of the manufacturers began setting up distributors to bring their products to market. George Beaudoin, under the name of Rexford Pump and Supply, solidified relationships with several major manufacturers. George’s sales efforts were focused on the standardization of his products at the municipal level.

During the early 70s the housing construction market slowed. Rexford Plumbing & Heating had begun to diversify into municipal water and sewer line construction. At the same time Rexford Pump and Supply began to shift its product mix away from the residential plumbing market and into the municipal waterworks and sewer system market.

Throughout the 70s, Rexford Pump and Supply Company directed its sales efforts toward municipal waterworks and sewer departments, calling specifically on every city, town, and village throughout New York State. On October 1, 1982, George Beaudoin acquired the shares of his brother Edward’s Rexford Pump and Supply position. At the time of this transition Rexford Pump and Supply Co., Inc. changed its name to Rexford Albany Municipal Supply Co., Inc. and the name RAMSCO was born. Simultaneously, George Beaudoin purchased a building at 453 North Pearl Street, Albany NY, and moved the business operations to that location where it continued to grow and prosper.
